History of the Name
PRESCIENT [PRE-shee-uhnt], adjective: anticipating the outcome of events before they happen. Prescient derives from the Latin praescientem, present participle of praescire "to know before".
The firm's name was selected based on the founder's background in banking and, more specifically, bank balance sheet management. In banking, managing the balance sheet or "anticipating the outcome" is the main objective. At Prescient Capital, we are methodically underwriting loans and developing relationships in anticipation of a successful outcome.
Founded in 2006
Prescient Capital is a Delafield, Wisconsin–based specialty finance company providing short-term bridge loans collateralized by commercial real estate or other quick-sale collateral. The firm focuses on $2-$15 million dollar loan requests at or near the top of the capital structure, attempting to limit downside risk and focusing on capital preservation.
